Description

A creamy and delicious dessert, Spanish flan is a traditional caramel custard that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns golden brown. Pour it into a round baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
  4. Pour the milk mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
  5. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan filled with water.
  6. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
  8. Invert to serve, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the flan.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of evaporated milk.
  • Make sure the caramel is not burnt for the best taste.
  • Flan can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
