Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the rice, milk, sugar, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the vanilla, cinnamon, raisins, and beaten egg; mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
  6. Dot with butter and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until set and lightly browned on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding nutmeg or using brown sugar instead of white sugar.
