- 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Gruyère or cheddar)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Steam the Brussels sprouts for about 5 minutes until just tender.
- In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, bringing it to a simmer until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Combine the Brussels sprouts with the cheese sauce and transfer to a baking dish.
- Top with breadcrumbs and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding crispy bacon bits on top before serving.
- This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
