A delicious French Toast Bake topped with a crunchy streusel for a perfect breakfast or brunch treat.

- 1 loaf challah bread, cut into cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add the bread cubes to the mixture and let them soak for at least 15 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In another bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, and butter until crumbly. Stir in pecans if using.
- Sprinkle the streusel topping over the bread mixture.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and set in the middle.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, add more sugar to the egg mixture.
- Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator overnight before baking.
- Serve with maple syrup or fresh fruit.
