- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Gradually add the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- If using, stir in the nutmeg.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately over pasta.
Notes
- For a thinner sauce, you can add a little pasta water.
- This sauce can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Always use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best results.
